Welcome to our Land Rover page

This was our first Land Rover, “Cyd”. It is a Series 3 long-wheelbase station wagon fitted with a Ford V6 engine conversion. We traveled to many wonderful destinations in Cyd, and he was probably the best Land Rover we ever owned. I believe Cyd now belongs to someone in Durban.

After driving a friend’s 110 we decided it was time for an upgrade to a more comfortable and newer vehicle, so we bought “Cyd Also”. Cyd Also is a 110 V8 Hard Top with coil suspension and power steering. We built a bed into the back of the vehicle for holidays. This photograph was taken at Cape Agulhas, the Southern most tip of Africa.

“Fred” was Jeannette’s first Land Rover. He is a Series 3 short wheel base station wagon with a diesel engine. We commissioned Rob Leimer to build Fred from the chassis up to Jen’s requirements, and he did a great job. Fred was Jen’s daily vehicle for several years at a time when we lived on a farm 40 km from work. He now belongs to our good friends Clem and Ali. We still have visitation rights :-)

Fred was replaced with this 90 Tdi, which Jen called Harry. Jen really loved this car, and only sold it when she needed a larger car when our son Jamie was born.

Jen's first Range Rover, Gambit.

Jen's second Range Rover, just known as "Jen's Truck".

My last project was “Lizzie”, a 1957 Series 1 long-wheel-base pick-up Land Rover. Lizzie was a barn find, and she stood for many years. The brakes were seized solid when I found her, but the engine started immediately after connecting a new battery and adding fresh fuel.

Our new love, Poppie! She is a 1971 Series 2A 109 Station Wagon fitted with the 2.6 litre six-cylinder engine. Having started our Land Rover life with a Series 3 I feel like we have now come a full circle and have returned to what the legend was built on.
